Career and Technical Training Scholarships for Low-Income adults in Alabama

First AOD Reception and Silent Auction held May 18, 2012

AOD held its first fundraiser, the AOD Reception and Silent Auction on May 18th, 2012.  Over $1,500 after expenses was raised for scholarship funds for low-income families.  The event was conducted at Central Presbyterian Church's Cooper House in downtown Huntsville.  Dr. Helen McAlpine, President of J.F. Drake State Technical College in Huntsville, was the guest speaker.  Famous Joe's Pizza provided great food, Publix donated a sheet cake, and several businesses and artists donated items for the silent auction.  A Bear Bryant portrait, several restaurant meals, other art pieces, and a Sedona, Arizona resort stay were among the items auctioned for scholarships.  Cameron Williams provided background music on acoustic guitar.  Joel Bridges was our Master of Ceremonies.  Thank you to all of our attendees, volunteers,  and donors!
